Masjid Omar is holding an election on Saturday October 28, 2023. The Board of Trustees (BOT) is requesting members submit nominations of members to serve on the BOT for the term of 2023-2026.

  • Deadline for nominations is Saturday October 14, 2023 10:00am. Nominations are now closed
  • Candidates will be announced Saturday, October 14, 2023. Candidates are below.
  • Candidate list will be posted on this page and on the bulletin board of Masjid Omar.
  • Candidates will present their vision and hold a Q&A on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 2:15pm. Early voting will begin following the Q&A. Candidates presented and Early voting has begun.
  • Early Voting will be daily between Maghreb and Isha from Saturday October 21, 2023 to Friday October 27, 2023. There will be a table in the main entrance with an election committee member to confirm membership and receive a ballot. Early voting has completed.
  • Elections will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 between 2-4 PM, when the votes will be counted. Elections are completed results are below.

2 Seats are open for election.
Only members can nominate or self nominate.
Nominees must be Members to be eligible as candidates.
Nominations will be accepted now until Saturday October 14, 2023 at 11:00am. Nominations are now closed.
Nominate up to 2 members. 4 members were nominated, 2 declined and 2 confirmed to be interested and willing to be candidates. The 2 candidates are below:

سيقدم المرشحون رؤيتهم الانتخابية، وسيكون هناك فرصة لطرح الأسئلة لمن يرغب من الحضور، وذلك يوم السبت الموافق 21 أكتوبر 2023 الساعة 2:15 مساءً.

يبدأ التصويت المبكر يومياً ما بين صلاة المغرب والعشاء اعتباراً من نفس اليوم، السبت 21 أكتوبر 2023 وحتى يوم الجمعة 27 أكتوبر 2023.

سيتم إعلان نتائج الانتخابات يوم السبت الموافق 28 أكتوبر 2023 بين الساعة 2-4 مساءً.

Upon completion of the early elections and election day, the following 2 Members have been elected to the Board of Trustees, Qadeer Ahmed and Imran Rafique. Their information is below:

Name: Qadeer Ahmed

Age: 40

Qualifications/Profession: PhD, Assistant Professor at OSU

Vision: Being part of Masjid Omar Community and OSU Muslims, I believe Masjid Omar can offer better opportunities for muslim students at OSU. I am also advising a student organization in OSU focused on graduate muslim students. I hope, by being part of the Masjid Omar BoT, I will be able to provide better opportunities for muslim students around Masjid Omar and at OSU.

Age: 40

Qualifications/Profession: MD, Medical Doctor, Internal Medicine

Vision: I have been a member of Omar masjid for almost 5 years, I believe it’s the time now to serve the house of Allah SWT and our Muslim community. Being involved in various leadership roles in healthcare, I believe I can share my skills and experience to contribute for the betterment and growth of the community and promote our Islamic teachings and values in the community.
